I Can See Clearly Now By Jimmy Cliff

Jimmy Cliff

I Can See Clearly Now - has been written, arranged and produced by Johnny Nash. Jimmy Cliff sang the latest version, reggae style. I like the later version. This was #1 in the US for 4 weeks late in 1972. Ray Charles performed this on an episode of Saturday Night Live.

It is a song of hope and courage for individuals who have experienced adversity in their lives but have overcome it. For a person going through difficult times, this song is an inspiration. I can make her want to try and rise above adversity and see the sunshine that's waiting at the end of the tunnel. I can see clearly now the rain is gone....

In the movie “Shrek 2”, the 3 blind mice sang this song. It is really funny and ironical for this happy song to be used like this. By the way “Shrek 2” is a really funny movie. Nice movie for those wanting to laugh for a while.

Originally written by Johnny Nash
From the album "Ultimate Collection"

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin?for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin?but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things.

Henry Ward Beecher

Happiness is not in our circumstance but in ourselves. It is not something we see, like a rainbow, or feel, like the heat of a fire. Happiness is something we are.

John B. Sheerin
